25% of the population in Nepal lives below the poverty line. This is exacerbated by one of the most severe earthquakes in history that hit the country causing thousands of deaths and displaced families. Since then, despite progress, reconstruction has been slow and difficult. This situation has a devastating impact on children, who often have to work to help their families, depriving them of a proper education. In this difficult context, Save the Children is partnering with communities to deliver quality education for the most vulnerable children, involving communities and parents to emphasise the importance of education.
The project in Mahottari district
For over 100 years, Save the Children has been working to ensure bright futures for children. Thanks to the exclusive support of AIM Group International, Save the Children has been able to implement a highly effective project in the Mahottari district of south-eastern Nepal. Working with the Ratauli Yuwa Club, a local partner, several initiatives have been carried out in a local school.
The project provided some new, ecological physical infrastructure:
– Construction of an eco-library.
– Creation of geometric flowerbeds.
– Fencing around the school for security.
– Installation of 16 turbo fans to reduce heat in classrooms.
– Painting concrete roofs white for cooling.
– Installing solar panels for energy backup.
– Planting trees around the school.
– Complete renovation of the school.
To ensure the sustainability of the project, Save the Children worked in partnership with the community:
– Training of the Operational Committee and the Green School Management Committee.
– Creation and mobilisation of the Eco-Club.
– Organising of an eco-competition and green promotional campaigns.
The project benefited 549 students and 16 teachers.
Thanks to the support of AIM Group International, the school in the Mahottari district has been transformed into a safe and stimulating environment, ensuring that children have the opportunity to receive a quality education. The activities carried out raised awareness of the importance of respecting the environment and significantly improved school attendance.
“After making our school sustainable, the children have taken initiative through the Eco-Club. These efforts not only make them happy but also motivate the students to attend classes regularly” said the School Principal.
Philanthropy that empowers the next generation
This initiative is a testament to AIM Group International’s ongoing commitment to philanthropy and empowering the next generation. Over the years, AIM Group has actively supported NGOs, development projects and educational initiatives, working with its clients to create events and initiatives that leave a lasting positive legacy.
AIM has supported children in El Salvador and Uganda through Save the Children for many years, making a real difference in their lives, giving them the opportunity to grow, learn and build a better future.
One of AIM Group International’s most significant CSR projects is the establishment of a rehabilitation centre in Burundi, dedicated to the company’s founder, Enzo Buongiorno. The centre provides orthopaedic, neurological and respiratory care to help patients recover from surgery.
Through initiatives such as these, AIM Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to making a significant and positive impact on communities around the world.
