SIOT 2025 Congress: innovation, experiential learning and growing engagement in Rome
Between packed lecture halls from the early morning, young specialists moving between immersive simulations and keynote lectures, and a rising curiosity about the role of artificial intelligence in orthopaedics, the SIOT 2025 Congress — the annual meeting of the Società Italiana di Ortopedia e Traumatologia (SIOT), the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology — transformed Rome, from 6 to 9 November, into a true laboratory of clinical innovation.
As the leading national event for the Italian orthopaedic and trauma community, the congress once again brought together surgeons, researchers, trainees and industry partners to share knowledge, explore new techniques and discuss the future of the specialty.
For AIM Group International, which has supported SIOT in organising this key annual medical congress since 2019, the 2025 edition represented a virtuous balance between continuity and renewal. The event maintained its broad multidisciplinary identity while evolving year after year through new training formats, digital tools and dedicated pathways for the next generation of orthopaedic specialists.
Stable attendance and strong satisfaction
The congress welcomed 2,283 registered participants, a slight increase over the 2024 edition. The Customer Satisfaction survey confirmed the overall positive experience, with high scores for organisational quality, venue usability, scientific content and the improved digital services.
The exhibition area covered 724.5 m² sold out of 1,000 available, with the participation of around 70 industry partners and sponsors, confirming the strong interest of the orthopaedic sector.
Practical learning and immersive experiences
As per tradition, the scientific programme addressed all major topics in orthopaedics and traumatology. The Opening Ceremony featured two high-profile keynote lectures: one dedicated to Artificial Intelligence in medicine and the other focused on the evolution of orthopaedic oncology surgery in Europe, both delivered by renowned international experts.
In addition to plenary and parallel sessions, AIM Group curated an extensive programme of advanced and experiential training designed to engage young surgeons and residents.
One of the most appreciated areas was the SIOT Hub, offering theoretical and hands-on activities specifically tailored for trainees and specialists under 45, including:
- Simulation Activity, with highly interactive practical courses
- OrthoDome, a theatrical-style video room showcasing HD surgical videos and device demonstrations
- SIOT Experience, a structured educational pathway dedicated to SIOT residents
The social programme also recorded excellent participation, including the Welcome Cocktail on 6 November and the traditional Presidents’ Dinner at Villa Miani on 7 November.
Digital innovation enhancing the participant journey
The SIOT 2025 Congress further expanded its technological solutions to improve the attendee experience:
- Self-registration totems, enabling faster on-site check-in
- The enhanced MySIOT App, allowing participants to browse the scientific programme, personalise their agenda, access general information and navigate the venue via an interactive map
These tools contributed to a smoother, more personalised congress experience.
Commitment to sustainability and social responsibility
SIOT and AIM Group continued to reinforce their sustainability strategy by:
- eliminating printed programmes in favour of digital tools
- using recycled-paper badges, with collection points for reuse
- activating food recovery initiatives through Equoevento
Social responsibility also played a central role. The SIOT Equal Opportunity Commission promoted a national campaign to train orthopaedic specialists to recognise signs of domestic violence among patients arriving in emergency departments.
A leading annual event for the orthopaedic community
The SIOT 2025 Congress confirmed itself as a highly attended and reputable medical event. Its ability to evolve through innovative formats, digital enhancements and dedicated educational pathways strengthens its role as the main annual gathering for Italian orthopaedic and trauma specialists.
AIM Group International is proud to support SIOT in shaping a congress that continues to grow in relevance, innovation and professional impact for the orthopaedic community in Italy and beyond.
