THE OBJECTIVES
Developed in collaboration with the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) and won through a competitive international tender, the 46th Scientific Assembly was conceived under the theme “Sustainable Space Research for the Planet” as a global platform to go beyond traditional space congresses.
The objective was not simply to organize an event, but to create a premier, unhindered international forum capable of advancing space research, planetary protection, and climate monitoring while fostering dialogue between academic breakthroughs, space agencies, and commercial space technology.
At the heart of the project was the ambition to bring together over 3,000 international scientists, engineers, and industry leaders to explore the future of space science, promote open data standards (FAIR principles), and empower next-generation researchers while ensuring the assembly itself served as a benchmark for eco-conscious and paperless execution.
THE SOLUTION
In August 2026, the historic XVI-century Fortezza da Basso in Florence hosted the 46th COSPAR Scientific Assembly, an international gathering that connected Galileo Galilei’s observational legacy with modern space innovation.
The experience was designed to facilitate high-level knowledge exchange, skill development, and cross-sector networking through an integrated scientific program featuring over 3,000 oral presentations, hundreds of poster sessions, and 160 distinct scientific events across 30 daily parallel streams.
A key element of the initiative was the multifaceted scientific and operational framework developed to address critical space challenges across strategic areas:
- Bridging Earth & Space Sustainability: Leveraging satellite technology and climate monitoring to directly protect Earth, backed by green event protocols, water refill stations, and a 100% paperless digital infrastructure.
- Modern Interactive Formats: Combining standard symposia with hands-on technical workshops, interdisciplinary roundtables on space policy and AI, and digital poster networking hubs.
- Commercial & Cross-Sector Alignment: Integrating major global aerospace sponsors to transform the exhibition floor into an active commercial engine.
- Social & Community Legacy: Supporting early-career scientists via the Young Research Networking Evening at Villa Vittoria, offering free STEAM workshops for local teachers through the COSPAR Panel on Education, and recovering 100% of unserved catering food for Florentine charities via Food for Good.
From central speaker management protocols (Centralized Speaker Preview Room) and integrated online management systems to destination coordination and ISO-aligned green logistics, every stage of the project was executed by AIM Group International to transform a scientific vision into a sustainable, high-impact reality.
THE RESULTS
COSPAR 2026 successfully established an unprecedented benchmark for managing massive, multi-stream scientific assemblies.
